We honestly thought that there would be a lot more about the Merrie Monarch Festival in the media. Hawaiian festivals usually garner a lot more attention than the Tahitian Festivals. At least in the US. But it seems that coverage is a little light this year. The coverage of the festival is broadcast on the local station KITV and streamed online as well. But other than that, there really isn't a lot more to read. The official Merrie Monarch Festival website still shows 2006. There's no mention of 2007.
And an unfortunate and sad development today with the announcement of Don Ho's death will surely trump the media coverage that might have picked up the festival otherwise.
At any rate, we'd like to congratulate the 2007 Miss Aloha Hula - Ku'uwehiokala Kaniaupi'o Fairbanks of Ka Pa Hula 'O Kauanoe 'O Wa'ahila. And we're looking forward to seeing more in depth coverage of this years event.
Here's a website we found that had a lot more information than the official site.

Limited coverage can also be found at the local newspapers Honolulu Star Bulletin and Honolulu Advertiser.
